Saving Recruiters’ Time with AI-powered Interview Analysis

Kerplunk

A Recruiter's Plight

Hiring the right people is one of the most important things an organization can do, and yet the process behind it is often anything but efficient. Recruiters juggle job postings, sift through applications, coordinate interviews, and attempt to evaluate candidates consistently while trying to move fast enough to not lose good talent to a competitor. The back-and-forth is exhausting, the margin for bias is wide, and the tools available rarely keep pace with the scale of the problem. Kerplunk was built to change that.

What's Kerplunk?

Kerplunk is an AI-powered recruitment platform designed to take the friction out of hiring from end to end. Employers can use it to create job positions, generate job descriptions, and craft interview questions through GenAI, then receive and manage applications directly through the Kerplunk portal. On the candidate side, applicants build profiles and go through a video interview process that’s designed to replicate the feel of a real one-on-one conversation — minus the scheduling headaches and logistical overhead that typically come with it.

Virtual Force Value Addition

Virtual Force partnered with Kerplunk at the MVP stage with a clear mandate: take a promising product and engineer it into something enterprise-ready. The first major challenge was one that standard generative AI simply wasn’t equipped to handle i.e. evaluating human behavior in interviews. GenAI is capable of a lot, but picking up on the nuances of how a candidate responds, reasons through a problem, or communicates under pressure requires something more sophisticated.
To address this, Virtual Force implemented a reinforcement learning layer on top of the existing GenAI model, enabling the system to continuously learn and adapt as it encounters a wider variety of candidate responses across different hiring contexts. The platform also builds an employer-specific knowledge base and takes on a “personality” tailored to each company’s culture and expectations, so assessments are relevant to the organization doing the hiring. Candidate responses are then measured, analyzed, and ranked through the internal AI model, giving employers a structured, data-backed perspective on every applicant.

The Impact

The results speak for themselves. Kerplunk enables organizations to run over 100 interviews simultaneously without sacrificing consistency or depth in evaluation. By centering the assessment entirely on candidate responses, the platform also significantly reduces the influence of unconscious bias — the kind tied to appearance, background, or communication style — while keeping a human in the loop at every critical decision point.
Perhaps most importantly, Kerplunk is built on Trustworthy AI principles. Every evaluation is transparent and explainable, so the humans making the final call are always informed, always in control, and never just taking the algorithm’s word for it. In a space where the stakes are high and the margin for error is low, that’s exactly the kind of AI you want in your corner.
